Ditawana Primary School Grade 6 learners ready to continue with the academic year 2020

The School principal Sonto Luvuno said the first day of the school was tough as they were panicking.

Although it will be a bit difficult for the grade 6 learners to get used to the new normal. Ditawana Primary School in Orlando East is amongst the blessed schools as they have June 16 Youth Development brigades to assist them in ensuring that the leaners adhere to the rules of Covid_19.

The School principal Sonto Luvuno said the first day of the school was tough as they were panicking. What made the principal relaxed and happy was the fact that they had extra hands (brigades) to help.

“This whole thing is difficult for us as teachers as we did not know how to welcome the learners back to school but with their help, we managed,” she said.

Luvuno said all their leaners were screened, sanitised and 10 learners in each classroom to maintain social distancing.

She added that they will be applying for a rotational process meaning learners will come on different days.

” We could tell that the children were nervous but the brigades helped us calm them down by playing games with them,” said Luvuno.



She said they were expecting few learners but on the second day, more leaners came.

The brigades distributed adjustable masks for the learners and the Chairperson of the youth development Boykie Tsosane taught the kids about coronavirus and safety measures to follow.

Tsosane said they volunteer to help with the kids in the school.



He said as volunteers they have been trained to help in different school he said they try to meet the government halfway by screening children, sanitizing the school and educating them more about the pandemic.

He explained that they are distributing special masks for the kids so that they can be able to adjust.
