Spoken word artist Adriaan Jacobs brings all Colours to light
Jacobs recently released his very first album titled ‘Colours’ and is proud to share some details of it with us.
“Colours is an album that speaks on social issues, discrimination and suicide. The album plays a vital role in my growth as an artist, it allowed me to expand on my writing. As a listener one will be able to relate to the struggles that I’ve faced growing up in South Africa,” explained Adriaan Jacobs, a spoken word artist from Eldorado Park.
Jacobs recently released his very first album titled ‘Colours’ and is proud to share some details of it with us. “The album is based on faith, regardless of your age, you would be able to relate to the album. God lead me into showing our differences as humans and reminding me despite our differences we are from the same source (God).
We are the Body of Christ, different functions with the same purpose,” shared Jacobs. He added that his calling was in spoken word and poetry despite growing up among peers that mocked him based on the fact that he had a stutter.

“When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour that is the day, I grew in self-confidence”, he added. The album which was produced by Keagan Holland, Hurricane Ceasar, Lyrical-D, and Le-eto Ohio seems to be one made straight from Jacobs heart as he has been working on it over a two year period and he had explained that during these years he had some tough life-changing experiences.
When asked how it feels to finally have his album out after years of making mixtapes, Jacobs explained: “Releasing ‘Colours’ is truly an accomplishment, being an independent artist, the album reaches as far as I promote it. It’s been a battle; it would’ve been released last year September but life happened and I almost didn’t release it at all. It’s thanks to my wife (Antonia Jacobs) that continuously pushed me into completing each song and releasing it five months later.”
The spoken word artist has a single called “I AM COVID-19” where he explained that he expresses himself as Covid-19. “I speak about how the virus is ruining lives and how things will never be the same anymore, I show the strengths of the virus and then I show the virus’ weakness which is Christ.
“The overall message is purely for those that have panic attacks and have trouble having faith because of the virus, this is to build your faith.”
Jacobs concluded his interview by sharing what he would like listeners to take from his album and that would be to believe in yourselves, renew your mind and make your plans known unto God so that He can give you direction.
