Mamello Mehlape is not just a pretty face.

Age is just a number. Success has no age nor knows no limits. The face of Devotion Mzansi 2019 and the current ambassador, Mamello Mehlape who hails from Naledi extension 2 is set to make a great difference in society.

At only 17 years of age, Mamello has done many things to make a name for herself in her community and has left a great impact on the lives of many.

“I have done charity works before, donated stationery, donated a bed to a 76-year-old granny, donated clothes to the elderly. I have also helped to build a bathroom in the house for a 101-year-old grandmother, as I saw that it was not ideal for her to go outside in order to use a bathroom all the time,” commented Mehlape.

“I have also donated stationery to school children,” added Mehlape.

Mehlape has tackled so many issues in society and has worked hard to improve the lives of those around her. Still in her teenage years but with many great achievements.

“I believe if you really want to help better the lives of others there’s no need to wait. Do what you can do whenever you feel like it,” said Mehlape.

Before the lockdown began, Mehlape had plans of doing a W.O.M.B seminar, this seminar was aimed at improving the bond of mothers and their daughters.

“One of the greatest issues in society is forming a stable relationship and understanding a young teenage girl, which in most households’ teenage girls and their mothers don’t understand each other on many issues,” commented Mehlape.

“So this seminar was just meant to improve these particular relations in society and groom fellow young ladies my age,” added Mehlape.

Mamello’s focus in her life is to make a difference in her community, one person at a time. making someone’s life much better.

“The pandemic has changed our lives so drastically, and it’s even harder for us school kids having to understand and learn through digital platforms. It made me realize how important contact classes were because during them we could tell our teachers where exactly we need help. So now we must explain things through digitals and that is sometimes very difficult,” said Mehlape.

Mehlape has worked with many organisations and people to better the lives of others over the years.

“I am currently not in partnership with anyone as per se, but Daveland Cash and Carry, GOG lifestyle was meant to sponsor me on this W.O.M.B seminar event, and also Rezmad Build Hardware timbers and wholesalers that are based at extension 11 has been sponsoring my events for a very long time,” said Mehlape.

Even with the crisis the world is currently facing, Mamello still aims high.

“I don’t plan on giving up on any of my plans. Things are just on pause for now, but once the dust has settled, all hands will be on deck and I will be all set again to do what I love to do,” said Mehlape.

With just the age of 17 years, Mamello has been a living proof in society that you can always help at any age and even with the little you have.
