Ricky Tyler’s new single an R&B feel that also takes you to church

Early 2020 Ricky signed to Universal Music Group and released the 1st single and video of his upcoming project Thirty K’s. Since its release the song has earned close to a 100K streams across all major platforms.

He has been referred to as South Africa’s Sam Smith, Bokamoso Kgomotso better known by his stage name Ricky Tyler has in May 29 released his 2nd single of ‘Small World’ album titled ‘Everything’. The song is a modern day take on classic R&B recorded in a church setting as Ricky serenades the girl next door, definitely a must listen!

“My second single titled ‘Everything’ is a gospel trappy vibe with a 90’s R&B feel. The song is about a girl I’m trying to win over. I’m pretty much saying I’ll give her all of me in exchange for her and for her not to doubt me or compare me to every other guy she has been,” Ricky said.

His much-anticipated debut Album ‘Small World’ is meant to drop next month, and is promising to be nothing but fire.

“I’ve also got some amazing visuals that I’ll be shooting for some of the songs on the album,” he said.

“A lot of my friends were artists and producers who were pushing that hustle at the time, but I wasn’t looking to pursue music back then. I was actually trying to pursue an acting career at first but I would always sit in their studio sessions and I would study the way everything came together. I fell in love with the creative process and started to write some lyrics of my own but was very low-key about it,” he said.

“I started downloading internet beats and laid some ideas on them and released those on my SoundCloud.

“Slowly people started gravitating towards the content I was putting out and that gave me the confidence I needed to keep going. My older brother was into film so he would use me to create show-reels of his own. We used those same videos for my YouTube page and slowly started to build an audience with the music videos we were dropping. So, I used the internet a whole lot to build hype and that’s how I got my career started,” he added.

Ricky Tyler is currently under the fast-rising production house/indie label Playground Productions and currently signed to Def Jam Africa/Universal Music Group SA- Image supplied.
