Thando Nkosi donated school shoes and books at Emshukantambo Secondary School

Resident boosts self-confidence and literature of learners.

South Africa was under the national lockdown from March 25 in order to curb the increase of COVID-19 infections. There are five levels in the lockdown that decrease in time to open the economy. During the level 3 of the national lockdown, matriculants and Grade 7 were to open schools with high levels of precautionary measures taken into consideration.

On June 8, the matriculants and Grade 7 returned to their respective schools and carried on with the work. Some learners were very anxious to have returned to school, but it is people with a will to help and give that guarantee learners hope for the future. Thando Nkosi, a resident of Pimville has taken it upon himself to donate school shoes and books to a local school, Emshukantambo Secondary School.

Nkosi donated school shoes as he realized that as winter has begun, all learners deserve to have shoes and to boost their self-esteem. “I donated the shoes because winter has descended upon us and these shoes will be of great help to the few learners who need them in order to minimize their chances of getting winter sicknesses.”

“this will greatly increase their self-confidence as wearing worn out shoes can have a negative effect on a learner’s self-confidence.”

He continued to explain that he also donated books to the school’s library to help learners to reach their full literature capacity. “I donated the classic Business and Self-development books to the school’s library so it can have more literature that will help the learners expand their capacity, their minds and they can be more exposed to life.”

He further stated that these books will help the learners see what is achievable in life through the success stories of the authors and they will be motivated to work harder at school to pave their bright futures.

Nkosi said he chose to give to Emshukantambo Secondary School because it is in the area he resides in and the school has been managed very well for years.

“I hope this will help the learners improve their grades and their outlook in and on life and assist them in maximizing their time and end up being everything they were meant to be in life.”

He went on to say that he gave as an instruction from God that we should share whatever we receive from him.

A teacher at the school, Pule Hlahane expressed his gratitude to Nkosi for his donation to the learners. He mentioned that the donation of the school shoes will definitely boost the confidence of the learners which will bring a positive outcome in the classroom.

He continued to say that the books will help the learners with their perspectives of life.
