Suspect arrested in Diepkloof linked to Kagiso cash-in-transit

High amount of Money on the loose.

Members of Soweto Flying Squad, RR 1009, sergeant Sibeko, sergeant Mudau, Sergeant Sewage and Cst Mogoboya were patrolling at Diepkloof Zone 5 when they spotted a suspicious grey Volkswagen Tiguan TSI and decided to stop and search it.

“The driver refused to be searched and insisted to be searched at the police station when permission to search him and the vehicle was asked,” read the report.

Members then drove with him to the police station. Upon searching the vehicle, they found a green plastic bag with bank notes with estimated value of R5 000.00 and some of the money was torn apart.

“When the suspect was interrogated, he said he picked it up from a crime scene in Kagiso where the cash van was bombed,” read the report.

On further enquiries from Kagiso South African Police Service, it was confirmed that there was indeed a cash in transit robbery occurred as per Kagiso Cases.

The vehicle also then confirmed a stolen vehicle.

The suspect was then arrested and detained for further investigation at Diepkloof SAPS.

Soweto Flying Squad Duty Officer Captain Bhengu and Communication officer Molatlhegi also attended the scene.

Further investigations are still being conducted on this matter.
