Mob set murder accused on fire in White City, Jabavu

A case of attempted murder has been opened and they have not made any arrest.

On Tuesday a 25 years old male was set alight by an angry mob at Mavi Street in White City, Jabavu.

According to the Moroka Police station spokesperson captain Mpande Khoza it is alleged that the victim who is also a suspect in a murder case was hunted down by a group of people from the area for the murder which he allegedly committed on Monday morning around 01:00am.

He further explained that when they found him, he allegedly stabbed one of the community member and he was rushed to hospital.

Captain Khoza stated that the angry mob then poured him with paraffin and set him alight. He said the victim was burnt all over the body. He added that police officers who were patrolling around the area managed to save him.

Khoza stated that the victim was treated on the scene by some paramedics and was taken to Bara hospital.

He confirmed that a case of attempted murder has been opened and they have not made any arrest.
