Covid 19 screening conducted at Protea Glen

Region D, ward based outreach team visited the area of Protea Glen Ext 16 to perform a door to door Covid 19 screening and also offer flu vaccine for interested candidates.

The entire universe is going through a rough space or rather trying times as they fight against the common enemy known as Covid 19 which has attacked the universe and currently has no vaccine.

Region D, ward based outreach team visited the area of Protea Glen Ext 16 to perform a door to door Covid 19 screening and also offer flu vaccine for interested candidates as we are approaching winter and people will be likely affected by colds and flu.

Field workers were deployed to screen people and families for Covid 19 symptoms. Sister Bongeka Ntlangulela and Buhle Leope taught the families about the symptoms of Covid 19 and asked if the family have a history of traveling abroad, they also asked if there was/is anyone having the pandemic symptoms, if someone was found to be having symptoms they were then referred to do testing which determines whether the person is infected or not.

According to Discovery, typical signs and symptoms of the virus are: dry cough, fever, tiredness, difficulty breathing, coughing up slime, sore throat, headache, muscle or joint ache or pain, and body chills. The less common symptoms are: Nausea or vomiting, nasal congestion, diarrhea, intensely red eyes and swollen eyelids.

“As winter is approaching we advise people to stay warm, drink warm water, to help boost their immune system,” said Ntlangulela. “It is also imperative that people take precautions, stay home, be safe and save lives “, she added.

“The Corona virus disease has no cure but people can protect themselves by washing their hands regularly, avoid close contact, stay home and self-isolate from others. We also advise people to abstain from touching their eyes, nose and mouth”, said Leope.
