Two taxi owners shot dead at Morafe Hostel, Soweto

The other two victims that were also shot were admitted at the hospital and they are in a serious condition.

The Moroka SAPS received a complaint regarding a shooting at Morafe Hostel in Soweto yesterday. On arrival, cops found a complainant indicated that they were sitting at block 8 Morafe Hostel watching tv when a silver Mercedes stopped next to them and the occupants began firing shots to their direction.

According to the statement released Captain Mpande Khoza of Moroka Police Station One STS taxi association owner died at the scene, while the other three victims were taken to Bheki Mlangeni hospital where the second taxi owner died on arrival due to serious injuries suffered from the shooting.

“The other two victims that were also shot were admitted at the hospital and they are in a serious condition. The motives for the killing is unknown and no suspect has been arrested so far.

“These killings follow shortly after another taxi owner of Nanduwe who was gunned down last week on Tuesday at Dhlamini in Soweto.”

The police would like to appeal to all taxi associations involved to refrain from using deadly forces on one another whenever they have differences., but rather resolve their issues around the table.

The police also appeal to the community of Merafe hostel and around Soweto to assist them with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects
