“I fell in love with the colours of the SAPS,” Captain Sfiso Mabizela

The Soweto born Captain contributed in Gauteng Provincial Head office after being called in to assist with a backlog of Civil claims against Police among other things.

With the background and experience in law enforcement, he served Articles of Clerkship with Legal Aid Board, practised law under Modiga Attorneys and later practised independently as the Advocate of the High Court.

The Soweto born Captain also contributed in Gauteng Provincial Head office after bieng called in to assist with a backlog of Civil claims against Police among other things.

Captain Sfiso Mabizela also worked for Jabulani and Yeoville SAPS as the corporate communications in conjunction with Social Crime Prevention.

The Public Relations Officer of the CPF Buthi Makhoba described Mabizela as a hard worker; he said Mabizela’s return to Jabulani SAPS had an impact as he is also involved in community work.

“I think going forward working with Mabizela will make a huge impact in communities in terms of teaching and giving people information about the justice system, part of his duties is to ensure that the police do not abuse the community and that the community does not abuse the police” he added

“Mabizela taught us a lot on how to approach certain things that we did not previously know, he also encourages the CPF to have a community meeting  explaining the process of cases to community members, he is a hard worker and he advocates for youth involvement in everything,” said Makhoba.

The 34-year-old captain said his background in law puts him in an advantage to interpret and educate the police about new acts.

Mabizela said the passion for his job rubbed off on him when started working for SAPS.

“I started loving my job especially after college, my perception about the police changed.

“I realised that many policemen and women are educated so with the qualifications I already had, I decided to study more and learn more about the environment out of curiosity because I wanted to know more.

“I got to understand the meaning behind the emblem, I got to understand the parades and the discipline required for it,” he continued.

“The perception that police officers are lazy, they like money and they are illiterate is wrong and now I have to fight that perception,” said Mabizela.

Mabizela is currently a communication officer for Jabulani SAPS he aspires to be a station commander.
