Orlando Pirates’s Lorch finding his form

With 15 goals and 7 assists in all completions, the 26 year was been voted as the 2018/2019 Absa Premiership Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the season but had failed to replicate any of that for into the current season.

After a transfer period filled with rumours of a move away from Orlando, a rather rough start to the season that saw him fail to register a single goal or assist in more than 10 games, it would seem Orlando Pirates star man, Thembinkosi Lorch is finally finding his form again.

With 15 goals and 7 assists in all completions, the 26 year was been voted as the 2018/2019 Absa Premiership Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the season but had failed to replicate any of that for into the current season.

Lorch’s form seems to be in sync with the Orlando Pirates’ performance.

A disastrous start to the season under the assistant-interim coach, Rhulani Mokwena, both Lorch and Pirates found life hard, but under new Coach, Josef Zinnbauer, Pirates have achieved an 80% win rate in the month of January and have not once, tasted Absa Premiership defeat. Lorch himself also seems to have found his scoring boots as he registered his first goal of the season in the win against Highlands Park and his first assist this season in the win against Amazulu.

Of course, Lorch’s return to form also comes just in time for Orlando Pirates crunching encounter against league leader and bitter neighbours Kaizer Chiefs in late February.

The “Happy People” as the Buccaneer fans have been affectionately known Will be pleased to see the man who once, almost single-handedly dictated games for them return to form.

The new spring in his step may also be accredited to the confidence his new coach has placed on him, addressing media after a victory against Chippa United, Pirates Coach Josef Zinnbauer made it a point to heap praise on the striker.

“He works for the team. He is a team player now and makes a step in the right direction. And for me, that is very important to see. Lorch is a top player,” said Zinnbauer.
