The family of an alleged suspect wanted for rape is living in fear as they constantly receive threats from some of the community members who threatened to set their house on fire if they don’t tell them where the accused is hiding.

The family first found out in a community group where they name and shame the alleged rapists and abusers ever since they have no peace in their own home. This happened after a 23-year-old was raped in June 2018. Ghost Town currently has different views on how the case should be dealt with.

Some community members alleged that the family knows about his whereabouts but does not want to give out information that would lead the police and the community in to find him.

A family spokesperson whose identity has been concealed for safety reasons stated that her wanted nephew was once arrested for rape, sentenced to 18 years and was out on parole after he served nine years. She added that they do not know where he is.

“We are always in fear of what might happen overnight because we also live with our children in the same house. We can’t even go to work because we don’t know what will happen while we are away and every night we have to ask people to please accommodate our children for a night,” she alluded.

She said that she learned about what her nephew did through a call from the victim notifying her that the nephew attempted to rape her.

She then stated that immediately she visited the family of the victim to hear what had transpired and advised them to do what they think is right and promised that as a family they are willing to support them because they don’t condone this kind of behavior.

While the question of the whereabouts of the suspect is still on a lot of people’s minds and the family waiting for him to come to rescue them from being torched while sleeping.

“What pains us is we welcomed him with warm hands but now our lives are in danger all because of people assuming that we know where he is,” these are the word said by the family members and some of the community members.
