Moroka Police assures Sowetans that they will protect them against ruthless criminals

The police spotted four suspects next to a certain house at Molapo and when police approached them, the suspects started shooting at the officers.

On Monday the crime prevention received a complain of robbery at Molapo in Soweto.

The police spotted four suspects next to a certain house at Molapo and when police approached them, the suspects started shooting at the officers.

The perpetrators targeted a chicken dust business and robbed the complainant some money and their cell phones.

Spokesperson of Moroka Police Captain Mpande Khoza said the police retaliated one suspect aged 23-year-old who was shot dead and one of the unlicensed 9mm firearm with 14 Ammunitions including the cellphone of the complainant were recovered. The suspect was fatal wounded by the police.

The second suspect arrested on the scene. The police recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and cellphone belonging to the complaint.

When the police searched him they found a cellphone and wallet belonging to one of the people who were who were robbed.

Khoza said he is facing charges of attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions.

“The Moroka police want to assure the community of Soweto more especially which is policed by Moroka police station that we will do everything to protect them and their business from these ruthless criminals who are targeting their small businesses and their property,” concluded Khoza.
