Lofentse Girls High ready for 2020!

The Orlando East based school will have their hands full in the 2020 academic year after an increase of learners.

After an exciting 2019 filled with many milestones. Lofentse Girls High is ready to achieve even higher this year. This was according to the School principal, Motsoku Rosetta.

“2019 was an exciting year for us, we had done many activities. We had classes that were renovated for Grade 9. The classes were for mathematics and science. Our labs for Grade 10, 11 and 12 as well for our Consumer studies. It motivated us to work even harder and made our work more practical,” she said.

The renovations seem to have done the trick. Lofentse Girls High scored a 100% pass rate for science students.
Despite this, Motsoku wants to see improvement.

“The unfortunate part is our pass rate is not reflecting the progress so that is what we want to focus on this year. Our target for 2019 was always above 90% but we could only manage 86.8%. So that is something we really want to address,” she told Soweto Urban.

The Orlando East based school will have their hands full in the 2020 academic year after an increase of learners. But Motsoku is adamant the school is prepared to achieve big this year.

“We are ready. We have a great staff of teachers, and I have to thank our SGB (School Governing Body) that supports us whenever we have challenges.

The Greater Orlando East and Noordgesig Councillors annual Schools Visit celebrated the best performing matric learners in the area.

“I like to work quite close to Grade 12s. It is important for them to know that their Principal supports them and I think it helps when they see me involved.

“I attend all the camps and morning classes to achieve the desired results, the school will have to work closely with parents.

“I always say to parents: ‘if your child is in grade 12, you are also in Grade 12’ our classes start at 7 am and finish at 4 pm.

The school’s best-performing learners were honoured at the Councillors annual school visit Programme.

“It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure that the learner is present. I myself am here at half-past 6 in the morning.

“We also want subject teachers to have an annual teaching plan so that parents can monitor the progress and call us if they do not understand.

“We value the relationship we have with parents and wish to work closely with them this year,” said Motsoku.
