The Diepkloof community walk against rape

The community of Diepkloof, including the youth that pretty much dominated the awareness walk, gathered together last week to take a bold stand against women and gender-based violence.

After a few rape cases have been reported at the Diepkloof SAPS, allegedly executed by the same person or people still roaming the streets of Diepkloof, the youth and the collective community of Diepkloof decided to take a stand against these heinous crimes and rapists.

The community of Diepkloof, including the youth that pretty much dominated the awareness walk, gathered together last week to take a bold stand against women and gender-based violence.

The Spokesperson for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto explained that the rape incidents have been brought to the police’s attention and that the police would do anything in their lawful power to apprehend the rapists or rapist, she said.

“In the meanwhile though, we do commend the people from the community of Diepkloof for coming together against crime and abuse.”

The community had all the support they would have desired from the local police, Even the Station Commander for Diepkloof joined in the awareness walk that temporarily saw some streets in Diepkloof coloured black and slightly purple by the matching apparels that most of the marchers all wore.

Richard Rangwanase, the Chairperson for Diepkloof SAPS joined in the march as well with his team, he said, “The awareness walk was a success and everyone in Diepkloof Should be aware of these rape incidents and these sexual predators.

“We thank everyone who came to stand against these crimes against our women, we hope the warning would be heard.”

However, any person who may have any enlightening information about the rape or the rapist can anonymously call 10 111 or visit the station.
