Naledi Ext 2 residents shutting down the Pikit-Up project

It is alleged that nepotism was implemented while employing people to work on the project.

The residents of Naledi Ext 2 continue with the protest of shutting down the Pikit-Up project which they believe is not serving the community in a proper manner.

It is alleged that nepotism was implemented while employing people to work on the project, “The people who are employed to work in this project are not part of Naledi 2, the divide and rule strategy has been used to bring division amongst residents of Naledi, our main concern is that how can we have a project in our area and not benefit from it?

Our area is facing a high rate of unemployment, this project is supposed to help us by employing the young ones in our area,” said Siviwe Mafuma, a community member.

Residents feel that the CLO that was selected is not a proper candidate for the CLO position that was advertised.

“We feel that the candidate should have been chosen from members within Naledi extension 2, not Protea North,” said Mafuma.

However Naledi 2 and Protea North fall under the same region and all form a part of ward 14.

There are allegations made concerning the CLO and is said that she was elected because she is related to Sibusiso Ndaba, a ward committee member.

The allegations were however said to be not true.

“CLO positions were advertised on the entire ward 14 from Protea Glen Ext4, Naledi 2 and Protea North, CVs for the position were directly sent to Jabulani and people were selected based on whether they qualify for the position or not, the CLO is not in any way related to Sibusiso Ndaba,” said Esther Maema, ward committee member.
