Minister of police declares firearm amnesty

The community is encouraged to use this opportunity to join the police in preventing violent crimes and create safety in our country.

The Minister of Police Bheki Cele declared a firearm amnesty 2019/2020 which started on December 1 until May 31, 2020.

This is a call to the community of Sophiatown precinct to hand in all illegal firearms, firearm parts and ammunition without any fear of prosecution, again to allow license holders whose licenses have expired to use these opportunity to first hand in those firearms and apply for their licenses, within 14 day from the handing in of those firearms.

Also, the estate firearms that the family failed to dispose of and the firearm of the institutions that the business have to cease to operate.
