Naledi high school shows gradual improvement in 2019 matric results

Naledi high school showed a 16.2 % increase in 2019 matric results.

Naledi High School procured an overall of 87.2 % for the class of 2019 matric which saw the school improve with a 16.2% difference from 2018 results and a 25.7 % difference from the 2017 matric results.

The school obtained an overall of 52 distinctions, 2 in business studies and 50 in life orientation (L.O), and claimed a 100% pass rate in 3 subjects including business studies, Setswana and English first additional languages.

Lesang Mathews learner at Naledi high said he made himself proud, the family and community members as he got a bachelor’s degree and a distinction in L.O.

“This year I want to go to UJ and see what I can study I had a plan to study agricultural business management (ABM) but I am struggling to get funding, I applied for funding so I am waiting for them to reply,” said Mathews.

Thandiswa Mdletshe said she did pretty well and also added that she had a different experience with her final examination she spoke of the challenges she endured as she was writing her final exam. She said the loss of her mother in 2018 affected her.

“I have to admit that this is not my best I dropped I use to be a distinction student I only have one distinction now, it was difficult the pressure from the teachers and home, copping with everything like attending every single day almost every day,” said Mdletshe.

L.O and Business studies teacher Nokuthula Zulu said she is happy with the results but at the same time, she feels that the is more can be done.



“I just feel like the is still much more effort that I have to put in because if you were to check the results I feel like it is not quality results. My aim is to obtain level 6 up but I am happy that we have improved from the last results to 87.2% as a school,” said Zulu.

Zulu said her strategy to improve matric 2020 results will include parents’ involvement as she has observed that the majority of the learners who performed well had a good support structure from the parents.
