New Years Resolutions anyone?

Have you ever made a list of new years resolutions? Have you completed the list or stayed consistent with them throughout the new year?

Have you ever made a list of new years resolutions? Have you completed the list or stayed consistent with them throughout the new year?

It’s usually the ‘new year, new me’ attitude which gets people into these lists.

According to a reference from the website; Mental Floss by Shanna Yehlen, the tradition of ‘new years resolutions’ started 4000 years ago in Babylon where Babylonians and even the Romans felt that making promises to their gods would start their year off right, and so the tradition was carried down.

The most common new year’s resolutions that we hear nowadays are:
? ‘I’m going to lose weight, or I’m going to exercise more often’
? Learn to save money
? Travel more
? Get a new job
? Eat healthy

There are so many more that one can think of off the top of your head. There hasn’t been any harm done (or let’s rather say, we are not aware of any cases) to anyone for following their new year’s resolutions and vice versa so if you are or are not following through with the tradition, it’s really just up to you.

For those who already have their lists or plan on making it still, here are a few tips from the website Active.com by Kisar S. Dhillonto (the list is exactly from the website):
1. Pick more than one resolution
2. Write them down. Make sure they are in the present tense.
3. Read them. Read them every day either to yourself or out loud.
4. Share them. Share your resolution goals with three to four people who will ask you about them and hold you accountable in achieving them.
5. Post them. when you wake up in the morning and go to bed – just look at them (tape them on the inside of your medicine cabinet door or have them on your smart device or pad).
6. Create milestones. Create milestone markers that you can use to re-evaluate your progress or needs of improvement.
7. Small rewards. If you successfully achieve your milestones, reward yourself with a small token of hard work and discipline, but don’t go overboard, you still have to complete the goal in its entirety.
8. Have fun. Enjoy the process of reaching your New Year’s Resolutions goals.
Whatever you choose to do, we wish you a happy and prosperous 2020.
