Pedestrian killed on N12 highway
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed on Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a light motor vehicle on the N12 in Eldorado Park.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the body of a man lying near the centre median. The light motor vehicle that had struck the man was parked a short distance away.
Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.
The driver of the light motor vehicle, a woman, was found seated inside with several injuries. Medics treated her, provided her with pain-relief medication and thereafter transported her to a nearby hospital for further care.
