Palesa Tshangana creating jobs for former drug addicts

Lets assist our fellow brothers and sisters.

Substance abuse is one of the major issues in our country more especially to young people however; some saw the need to tackle such by positively empowering addicts.

A young and pioneering Palesa Tshangana born and bred in Zola, saw the need to form an organisation that is based on linking drug addicts to rehabilitation centres, creating jobs and skills development for former drug addicts for them to refrain from relapsing.

“My organisation is still new and I need some assistance from relevant companies and funders to assist me in making my objectives a success.

“The most throbbing part is to see our fellow brothers and sisters suffering mainly because of drug abuse, some of them come from underprivileged family backgrounds and they are more likely to become involved in drug abuse and crime as they in need of money, possessions, education, and opportunities that could make their future luminous and most people turn to be ignorant about such issues, these people need support “said Tshangana.

“We need someone that could assist us to change our lifestyle. I need to quit drugs because I am a parolee, I have been given a second at life, I need to use this opportunity in a good manner and be an inspiration to suffering drug addicts who have lost hope.

“We just hope the whole procedure will be a huge success because my brothers and sisters are willing to change for the better, said Phumlani Thanjekwayo, one of the drug addicts from Zola.

According to South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), substance abuse is an enormous social problem in South Africa, as elsewhere, and it is increasing every day. Alcohol, Marijuana (Dagga), Cocaine, Tik, Nyaope (Thai) and Heroine are some of the most frequently used substances in this country.
