Sanofi commemorates World Diabetes Day 2019 through its Diabetes Your Type campaign

“Diabetes is a growing public health concern, but each person living with diabetes is unique,” continues Prudence Selani, Head of Communications at Sanofi South Africa.

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day 2019, Sanofi South Africa is launching Diabetes Your Type as part of a global campaign advocating a call to action for an individualized approach to treatment. Through this global, multi-stakeholder approach the company aims to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for people living with diabetes.

This November, Sanofi, a leading multinational pharmaceutical company, is encouraging the public to screen and test for Diabetes.

“Diabetes has a huge impact on the patient and families. The more patients know about their glucose levels, the better – as it will allow them to seek early intervention and prevent long term complications. Currently, Diabetes is the 2nd leading cause of death and a leading cause of death amongst women in South Africa.

“We encourage the community at large to get screened and tested for diabetes. Join the Sanofi Diabetes Your Type movement and share your stories to encourage South African to screen and test for Diabetes in their local clinics”, says Prudence Selani, Head of Communications for Sanofi South Africa

Sanofi has also partnered with various stakeholders to create opportunities for screening and testing in the communities.

The following testing stations are confirmed thus far, screening and testing will be free of charge, we encourage people who live closer to these screening and testing places to visit them and have an opportunity to screen and test for Diabetes:

• 24 Nov- Calvary Methodist Church, Midrand
• 1 December 2019 – Rhema Bible Church, Randburg

For people who live every day with the condition, managing highs and lows of blood sugar require active involvement and full-time awareness.

“The #DiabetesYourType campaign focuses on true stories of individuals from around the world, who are able to live fulfilling lives helped by solutions that are tailored to their unique situations, lifestyles and needs. Each person living with diabetes is unique, with personal circumstances (lifestyle, behavioural, overall health, family situation, etc.) that makes their diabetes needs specific to them. To manage their health effectively, each person needs a unique combination of education, monitoring and support alongside different treatments”, concludes Prudence Selani.
