“The campaign should not be limited and it should include every citizen that is willing to be part of it. It has to take place regularly for the rate of femicide, women and child abuse to decrease rapidly.

“We are building up a dialogue based on the programme but unfortunately candlelight sessions deny us the space of people coughing out their hidden secrets and problems that might put their lives at stake,” Lekwape added.

The campaign is set to have a dialogue programme towards the end of this month and it will include men who will be raising issues and opinions on how to tackle GBV and to also share the sad stories that led to them abusing women and children.

“During a recent candlelight prayer, an issue of men not attending candlelight prayers was raised and it is becoming an enormous issue because men also need to part of it and should also play their role and encourage their fellow brothers to stop the killings of women and children,” Lekwape concluded.
