With the festive season upon us residents are urged to be more vigilant as hijacking in the Greater Eldorado Park is on the rise.

According to the Eldorado Park SAPS a hijacking incident took place in Freedom Park. “The incident occurred in Inkwenkwezi Street just after midnight,” said Eldorado Park communications officer constable Roxanne Gibb.

“The complainant alleges that he was sitting inside his vehicle, a white Isuzu with his girlfriend, which was parked in the street.

“Two black males approached them, pointed them with firearms and ordered them to exit the vehicle. The two suspects then got into the vehicle and drove off. There were no injuries sustained during the incident,” Gibb added.

The communications officer confirmed that even though the vehicle has been recovered, the suspects are unknown. “We urge anyone with information to come forward. We also encourage residents to put their own safety first.

Residents need to make sure that all their doors, windows and gates are locked during late hours of the night. We do not advise residents to sit in their cars at late hours of the evening,” Gibb concluded.
