Champs still on a drive to educate communities on child deaths

Medical Anthropologist and community engagement leader Nonhlahla ‘Noni’ Ngwenya, said she feels they have made a lot of progress since 2017.

After their previous event in Meadowlands, Champs continued with their mission to create awareness and to promote a healthy lifestyle, they visited Emdeni to share information and raise awareness on child deaths at Emdeni library in Emdeni, Soweto.

Kick starting the day with training season for the elderly residents and young children from Khulanolwazi day care, part of the activities for the day included aerobics amongst others.

Champs along with community members, CPF, CAP and ward 130 ward councillor David Monamodi, distributed pamphlets during the 5KM fun walk with effort to the number of reduce child deaths in communities.

“I feel like since the program was initiated 3 years ago we now have a lot of programs in terms of partnerships that we build with different communities in Soweto and the community have well accepted us and we meet each other half way,” said Ngwenya.

Community Adviser from Champs Gugu Tshabalala previously emphasised that people from the community need to attend such events because stand to benefit a lot and more especially their children because Champs is more about child awareness.
