21-year-old arrested for alleged murder in Eldorado Park

Shootings in the Greater Eldorado Park have escalated over the last few months.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for murder and according to Eldorado Park communications officer, Constable Roxanne Gibb, the arrest took place at 6.45 on Sunday morning, almost a week after the murder took place.

“It is alleged that a shooting took place at the flats in Extension Four on Saturday, October 5.

The incident happened around 9.30 pm near Barry flats. One of the witnesses said that she was home at the time of the shooting and when she went outside to see what was happening she saw four men running away.

The witness then approached the victim who was lying on the ground, that is when she realised that it was her boyfriend. The witness then rushed him to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where the doctors, unfortunately, confirmed that the 36-year-old victim was deceased,” said Gibbs.

The suspect will soon appear in the Lenasia Magistrate on the charge of murder.

“We appeal to anyone who witnesses any form of crime to report it at all times to ensure that all citizens are and feel safe,” Gibbs concluded.

Shootings in the Greater Eldorado Park have escalated over the last few months. Recent shootings in Extension One, Three, Nine and Klipspruit West have resulted in male victims losing their lives. Anyone who witnesses these is encouraged to report it to the police immediately.

Residents are urged to lock their doors before retiring for bed and parents are encouraged to make sure their children are off the street by the time the street lights are on.
