Edmond Maseko a Caretaker at AME Church in Dobsonville is in disbelief that they are situated less than 2 kilometres from the local fire station, but blaze triggered by faulty electricity cable in his family shack burned his entire shack, furniture and car to the ground for a period over two hours without getting necessary aid from the trained firefighters.

According to Maseko, his 18-year-old daughter switched on the kettle making a tea after school hours.

“Little did my daughter know that the faulty electric cable will trigger an instant fire that engulfed the entire shack and left us homeless.

“Neighbours came in large number and tried to extinguish the fire, but the blaze was too much and extended to my makeshift garage where my car was parked,” said Maseko.

His landlord Elizabeth Manyeng is disappointed at the shabby treatment she received at Jabulani Fire Station. Manyeng rushed to Jabulani Fire Station to seek help but was told that she left fire station in Dobsonville situated less than 2 kilometres from the fire incident.
