Losing a child is the most painful thing a mother can endure Mable Nhlapho had to watch her son die infront of her eyes.

Maxwell Nhlanpho well known as Vobe’s life was allegedly cut short following a brutal beating by the Police.

The mother said it’s not the first time that the police had entered the yard to attack the boys but cannot recall the first week when they came to attack them twice in the same month.

She said she can only remember the last day it happened which was the September 27 because she had an appointment to attend in hospital and the son was left at home.

“They came at around 10pm I was sitting with my grandchild. I heard my son scream from outside,” said Nhlapho.

She said a female Police came in and told her that they got a tip off from someone who said they were renting inside the house as she questioned her on whether she was a tenant or what.

Nhlapho said when she told her that she was the house owner she questioned her about her take on what was going on outside her house. Her response was the is nothing we can do. Her son was a tailor so and used to chill with his friends who were substance users.

“From inside I could hear them insulting them and telling them not to look at them,” explained the sad mother.

During the weekend the late Vobe could not eat and was only living on cornflakes. On Sunday I had a dress that I had given him to alter and he brought it back for me to fit it so that he can see the length.

He told me he could not eat but I could not ask him why because of the sore in the mouth because I did not want to remind him of the incident that had happened.

Later that day my youngest son knocked on both my windows telling me that my late son was vomiting clots of blood and upon arrival he smiled at me as he continued vomiting blood.

They all tried to call the ambulance but they could not get through and tried calling the police and they were not able but they called someone who was able to call the ambulance. His little brother attempted to look for transport.

Nhlapho said he screamed that he could not breath and air was not coming in , she then took a small cloth and started blowing air for him.

“I told him to pray and he did, when the little brother came with transport he started snoring in an unusual manner and was not responding to people calling him. By the time his snoring had stopped,” said Nhlapho.

She said she has no problem with them coming in to search the kids and if they find anything unusual they should arrest them.

His litte brother Nhlakanipho said they always used to chill at his home with friend and when they see officers of the law they raise their hands so that they can search them and when they find us with drugs they arrest us. But other cops come and assault us and even my back is still hurting.

Captain Nomvula Mbense said as officers of the law they are not supposed to assault people and in an incident where one gets assaulted they should open a case but the family did not report the case.

She added that the family told them that before the deceased died he complained of chest pains but said they are still waiting for the post-mortem reports.
