Riverlea Market Day Expo
This Market Day had dance and rap performances and also a DJ to attract people to the event and also entertain them while they support local businesses.
The Riverlea Market Day Expo which was organised by non-profit organisation ReachOut took place on Saturday, September 28, next to the Riverlea Empowerment Centre [Nasrec Road]. The Market Day gave entrepreneurs in the community and surrounding communities a chance to showcase what they sell.
“The Market Day was planned as a way to break the stigma of us not supporting each other, we need to start supporting each other, and therefore, we have this event,” commented Joy Ragebult from ReachOut.
There were a variety of stalls at the event, which consisted of food stalls, health stalls and clothing and accessory stalls. ReachOut advertised this event on the local radio station Kofifi FM and also on WhatsApp.
Ragebult from ReachOut stated she did not know that there were so many businesses in Riverlea. The vendors each had reasons for starting their businesses.
Some were to just improve themselves and other reasons were to help others. The goods at Riverlea Market Day were very affordable.
This event gave people the chance to support their people and to know about these businesses in the community and its surrounding areas.

The dance was performed by Joy’s Women and Girls Empowerment Programme. ReachOut plans on having this Market Day at the end of every month, they also plan to have more stalls and entertainment for all ages. ReachOut hopes more young entrepreneurs will join Riverlea Market Day Expo just to showcase that the youth are self-sufficient within this community and the surrounding areas.
