The SB Proteas led by Quinton de Kock paid a visit to the High Commission ahead of the games and were well received. They will be playing against India in a three-match T20 International series starting on September 15, followed by a contest of three Tests.
“We strongly believe in Quinton as he leads the team going forward and we have a very competitive team that is well prepared, we will remain competitive, and yes – we want to walk away with a series win, the team in determined, we are here to win. We understand that the opposition is the strongest in their backyard, but we remain positive”. expressed Enock Nkwe.
Enock also gives an insight into the team`s strategy for the series.
“As professional cricketers we are entertainers, we hope the type of cricket that we are going to play people will be able to read, like I said it’s a new chapter and there are a lot of characters in the group. I know that for sure that the guys are excited, and they want to play good cricket”. We have players who have played cricket in India through IPL, its good to have that as background, we are confident going into this series. It’s a strong enough layer into this series”.
The captain has also expressed his excitement for the series and has fully embraced the new team.
“Coming into this series we have a lot of new players, win or lose, I want the guys to keep competing and keep fighting. If they are doing that, I’m sure that we will be in good hands. We have quite a young team, there`ll be a lot of energy and I’m looking forward to that”.
