Miss Soweto finalist Thando Tshabalala from Zola making a difference

Tshabalala is the founder of the New School Shoes Drive because she saw the need to donate school shoes in her community.

A young and ambitious 22 year old Miss Soweto Finalist, Thando Tshabalala in born and bred in Zola 2, Soweto, an LLB Law second year student, a current reigning face of Mzansi 2018, a mentor to young models in the community and a highly recommended pageant judge saw the need to give back to the community.

Tshabalala donated toys at Powerful Day Care in Naledi extension 2 and the initiative was sponsored by The Creative Council and she also served White Star instant porridge to the kids.

“I chose this project because firstly, I was doing it for underprivileged kids who leave their homes without having any breakfast, we come from different backgrounds and not every child is privileged. Secondly, since White Star is the prime sponsor of Miss Soweto, I believe it is my responsibility to help market the brand to people,” said Tshabalala.

the kids had so much fun on the day of the event.

Tshabalala said her journey of being one of Miss Soweto finalists has been a challenging one but in a good way though as she has overcome many challenges and she added on by saying that she thought she was not ready to enter the competition as auditions were held at Ubuntu Kraal.

I had to choose to either convince myself that my application was not successful because I never received any message that stated that my application was successful but I chose to go the auditions anyway because I had faith and hope. We were over 100 contestants and were divided in groups of six as unprepared as I was, I still gave my all.

By God’s grace I made it to top 40 and later made it to top 20. With that had been said, I have grown as a human and this journey has taught me that I am powerful beyond measure and that I can achieve anything I set my mind on as I am destined with greatness. Having a mentor like Pertunia Malingisa who is a Mrs Africa Finalist 2019 is priceless.

Tshabalala is the founder of the New School Shoes Drive because she saw the need to donate school shoes in her community hence she took the initiative to the importance of giving back but she couldn’t afford to buy for all learners hence she decided to keep in touch with relevant companies to assist her in sponsoring learners with school shoes.

Miss Soweto taught Palesa Tshabalala how to draw.

She added on by saying in most cases, people tend to think that you have to be wealthy in order to donate to the underprivileged and realising that even little things can change a person’s life to the better, we need to change our mind-set by realising that it does not really require that much.

I have groomed a lot of aspiring models to take their modelling careers to a higher level because I can relate to the struggle that face in order to make it into the industry.

The advice I would give to young people out there is they should not fail to try, always push themselves to where they want to be. Black child it is possible, your dreams are valid.
