Fifteen residents receive wheelchairs in Riverlea

The representative showed the family members of the beneficiaries all the functions of wheelchair and explained all that was needed to know and once that was over the wheelchairs were then distributed.

The Agnes Ferley Foundation partnered with Network of Caring to ensure that fifteen disabled seniors in the community of Riverlea received brand new wheelchairs.

Leigh Ferley from the Agnes Ferley Foundation had a list with reasons as to why the recipients were receiving the wheelchairs, and a few of these reasons were because the recipient was: an amputee, old, had arthritis, or was paralysed, bedridden, had a stroke or their wheelchairs were broken.

The Agnes Ferley Foundation caters for seniors and disabled people in the community, and Network of Caring is a movement and also the arm of Network TwentyOne Inc.

Ferley said: “I have seen the need in my community that there are actually many disabled people here and they are not all well taken care of, their wheelchairs have certain issues which causes discomfort and can even make their situation worse.

The last time I saw people carrying a lady with a chair because she did not have a wheelchair, they brought her to fetch her SASSA money. I’m so glad for these wheelchairs now because it will help the seniors get to where they need to go like places such as the Riverlea Clinic.”
