‘Westbury Secondary School can never be the same again’ – Westbury Secondry School management

Learners who continue to do the wrong thing opens themselves up to the possibility of being arrested.

On August 29, management along with staff at  said: ‘Westbury Secondary School can never be the same again’.

The matter of disregard for school rules, respect and criminality cannot continue like before. The Sophiatown police led by Captain Matshaba and team came to address the learners and parents with regards to the law.

He pointed out the truths about poor discipline and crime and drew their attention to the Child Justice Act. Children can be arrested, the myth of being under 18 years old must be re-looked at in terms of the law in this community.

Learners who continue to do the wrong thing opens themselves up to the possibility of being arrested. We need to be our brother’s keeper.

Constable Tumelo Nkwagatse then awarded the successful Debate Team of the school with certificates and medals to show the learners that there are learners who do well.

The medals and certification acknowledged the great contribution Westbury Secondary makes in debate competitions. The message that was spread was for learners to speak up and let their voices and thoughts be heard, for them to find avenues to be active instead involving themselves in drugs or other crimes.

The principal paid tribute to Diandre Gomez for being a role model throughout his school years at Westbury Secondary. Gomez was the debate team’s captain and is presently writing his preliminary examination.
