How to avoid exam stress

The time for preliminary examinations are here.

The time for preliminary examinations are here, and we thought it is fitting to give some tips on how to avoid the stress that usually comes with exams, or maybe just lessen the stress of exams:

Start off with setting goals
Set realistic goals for yourself. The goals you set for yourself will depend on the amount of time you have before your exams. Make a time management chart where you can plan out the amount of hours you will be studying for each subject also have short breaks in between your study sessions.

Be conscious of your health
Do not forget to eat, sleep and exercise during your exams. It is understandable sometimes one forgets about the world around themselves when studying but remember you need the nutrients from food to give you energy also drink a lot of water. For your body to perform at its best, you need to make sure you are sleeping enough, pulling all-nighters might not end so well for you. Exercise might also help reduce your anxiety.

Just Breathe
Remember to just breathe sometimes. Set some time out to do breathing exercises this will help calm you down and reduce the amount of stress you have and bring you back to the present moment. If at any moment you feel yourself starting to panic just breathe, drink some water and go back to the problem.

Ask for help
If you do not understand something, it is not a bad thing to ask for help. Go to your teacher or ask a friend who might understand the problem for help, this will reduce the amount of stress that comes with exams. Also by asking for help things will become easier for you and you have just avoided a lot of stress by doing this.

Group studying
If you are not good at studying alone and need someone to bounce ideas off of, then group study sessions might be good for you. Being in a group might make studying more enjoyable for you. Having a group to that is motivated to study, will help to stay motivated during your exams.

Be your own motivation
Believe in yourself, in life you will always be faced with new challenges and remember this is just one the humps you will have to get over. Stay, motivate because this is your life and the choices you make today will determine where you will be in the future. References from an article on the University College London website.
