Drug bust worth millions in Diepkloof

The drug den in Diepkloof is believed to be in connection with another drug manufac-turing den that was also busted in Mpuma-langa where at least seven suspects were arrested.

A clandestine drug manufacturer that has been operated in one of the houses in Diepk-loof Extension was busted where at least 62 bags of acidic substance believed to be used for the manufacturing were confiscated.

The drug raid that took place simultane-ously in Diepkloof and Mpumalanga was undertaken by the Hawks South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) together with the Special Task Force, Crime Intelligence and Forensic Science Laborato-ry experts. 62 bags of acidic substance suspected to be used for manufacturing drugs were found in the house in Diepkloof where a 61-year-old woman was arrested and appeared at the Protea Magistrate Court and the case was remanded for August 23 whilst she remained in custody.

The clandestine drug manufacturing house in Diepkloof was busted and it is situated right next to Buhle Bemfundo Day Care and drugs manufacturing equipments and a haul of mandrax tablets estimated at the street value of over R210 million were seized during the operation, according to Captain Lloyd Ramovha.

Ramovha confirmed that seven more suspects were arrested from the clandestine drug manufacturing den in Mpumalanga.

The National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya welcomed the narcotics apprehension, the arrest of the sus-pects and the taking apart of the drug dens just under the people’s noses.

Ramovha said, “We are happy to have successfully dismantled a multi-million rand clandestine laboratory together with a storage facility.”
