Sipho Mdletshe sentenced to life in prison after murdering Nomsa Mbuyisa

Acting Judge Thobane said society must be rid of violent offenders.

Sipho Mdletshe has been sentenced to life in prison after murdering his ex-girlfriend Nomsa Mbuyisa.

Mdletshe was also sentenced to five years for the attempted murder of Dumisani Mbuyisa, five years for the attempted murder of Mthunzi Mbuyisa, five years for unlawful possession of a firearm and two years for unlawful possession of ammunition. These sentences will run concurrently with the murder sentence.

Acting Judge Tony Thobane said Mdletshe showed no remorse or emotion expect indifference in the death and fallout. It was not surprising because he planned the murder and executed it.

Society must be rid of the likes of you who are perpetrators of extreme violence and are a menace.

“Mr Mdletshe it is aggravating that you killed Nomsa in cold blood in full view of the public. Her life was taken needlessly and you have shown no remorse.”

“I am unable to record any mitigating circumstances. It is also aggravating that you tried to kill Alfred Mbuyisa and your son Mthunzi Mbuyisa,” said Thobane.

The family hugged each other and began to cry after Mdletshe was sentenced.

The Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court has found Sipho Mdletshe guilty, for killing his ex-girlfriend Nomsa Mbuyisa.

Acting Judge Thobane also found Mdletshe guilty for murder, two attempted murder, unlawfully firearm and unlawfully ammunition.

“The court is satisfied that the state has proved its case beyond a reason doubt,” said Thobane.

The State and Family believes that justice has been served although sentencing procedures are postponed until tomorrow.

Court case has been adjourned to August 27 for sentencing procedures.

Mdletshe will still remain in custody.

He is facing charges of murder, two attempted murder, unlawfully firearm and unlawfully ammunition.

Outside Court Lindiwe Mazibuko said, “I’m happy that my sister’s killer is found guilty and we believe that justice will be served.”
