‘Veteran Apparel – Telling tales through threads’

Veteran Apparel will be launching over 10 different brands this Spring.

“My art journey started when I was relatively young. If I can remember correctly, I was in grade one when I started tracing. I remember feeling so proud when I was able to trace a drawing for the first time,” these are words of Gino Du Plessis, an artist from Eldorado Park.

“I then decided to start drawing pictures without tracing and I never stopped drawing ever since, drawing has been my outlet for as long as I can remember. It’s what I turn to when I am feeling happy, sad and even upset,” he added.

Du Plessis also said that he now feels ready to take his art to new heights. “Art aside, I also have a love for fashion and design so I thought of combining the two and see what happens,” said Du Plessis.

“I recently started my Veteran Apparel brand, this brand is very close to my heart because every drawing has a story to tell. It’s more than just T-shirts and sweaters. I put my heart and soul into my drawings so I’m very excited to be able to bring my art to life in the form of clothing,” he added.

Veteran Apparel will be launching over 10 different brands this Spring. “The goal is to eventually create jobs, I want to get my community involved and train the youth on how to use sowing machines. The idea is to expand the business so I can make this community a better place,” he concluded.
