A farewell concert for E.W Hobbs principal in Eldorado Park Extension Two

E.W Hobbs Primary school prides itself on focusing on more than academics.

E.W Hobbs Primary School in Eldorado Park Extension Two bid farewell to their principal, Cecil Harold Christian, who retired at the end of July this year.

Teachers, learners, parents, the Christian family and members of the school governing body organised a beautiful send off for Christian who was loved by everyone at the school.

Festivities, which took place on July 31 at the E.W Hobbs school hall, involved learners and teachers across all grades showcasing their love and appreciation for the principal. Learners with the help of their teachers prepared poems and dances dedicated to the Principal. The junior and senior choirs showcased their talents as well.


Learners, parents and teachers filled the school hall to bid farewell to Mr. Christians.

Christians, who has been teaching for over 40 years has always had a passion for children and education. Jerome Miles, who has been elected as the acting principal describes Christian as a one-of-a-kind principal.

“He has a way with children that no one else does. I have never seen a more caring principal. Children get excited to him, he truly will be missed by everyone at the school,” said Miles.

He also said that Christian started his teaching career at Kliptown Primary. “From there her moved to Heerengracht and then joined the E.W Hobbs team. He was our principal for eight years,” he added.

E.W Hobbs Primary school prides itself on focusing on more than academics. The school has many talented learners and aims to nurture the talents of the learners.

“You are not just retiring from your post, position or role, you are retiring as a principal who inspired our souls. Goodbye from all of us at E.W Hobbs Primary School, we wish you all the best in your endeavours, we will continue to make you proud,” Miles concluded.
