UJ captain prepared for 'War' with TUT.
UJ skipper Sphesihle Mbhele believes their clash with TUT will be a ‘War’ when they host the Pretoria side on Thursday evening.
The Orange Army secured their first win of the tournament last week after defeating CUT 1-0 in Bloemfontein after a goal from Keegan Faver. Mbhele believes the win is what his side needed before playing a fiery TUT team.
“Getting our first win was a great moral and confidence booster for our next game. It boosts our confidence and belief, that it’s all possible. After all, going to play against the defending Champs won’t be easy.”
TUT Captain Rorisang Rapelang was ever modest, even after defeating their Pretoria rivals UP-Tuks 1-0 last week.
“It’s always good to start the tournament with a win to help settle the nerves and boost confidence going into our next encounter. Every point is important in this tournament. Even though, for us our position won’t really help in terms of where we are going to play the semis or finals but it’s important to finish in a good position, so every point is important.”
“The mood in the camp is calm, everyone is focused, and the game against UP-Tuks is behind us now. The main aim is to get better than the last game,” said Rapelang.
Mbhele believes their win has the motivation they needed before their battle with TUT.
“The soldiers are motivated and focused on the task at hand which is getting maximum points. Playing against them won’t be easy but they must brace themselves for war.”
UJ hosts TUT at 18:15 on Thursday evening at the Soweto UJ campus in Soweto.
