Women’s race 2019 prize purse over 100k

The race offers a 5km fun run or walk and a 10km run or fun walk which makes it accessible to women of all ages.

The 2019 Totalsports Women’s race will boast a total cash prize of R123 600. The race will take place across three cities on August 9.

In a first for the race, it will be taking place in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg leaving each city with a prize total of R41 200.

“Prize money will be allocated to the top 8 finishers in the Open Category with the winner taking home a whopping R10 000…We are proud to announce that the top 8 runners in the Junior Category will also be awarded for their efforts. The top 3 finishers in the age categories 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ will also not go home empty-handed,” elaborated Agne du Plessis, General Road Running Manager for Stillwater Sports.

The Women’s race is an annual race which aims to raise awareness around breast cancer by supporting the #PinkDrive and having women run wearing pink.

Women running the race will also have an opportunity to receive a free clinical breast examination and education on breast cancer on site. It will begin in Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown with different start times for the two different distance categories.
