The Gail Britoe Foundations celebrated it’s 7th birthday

The foundation was started on Mandela day in 2012.

The Gail Britoe Foundation (GBF), a non profit organisation in Eldorado Park Extension Two celebrated its 7th birthday on  July 18.

The organisation was started in 2012 with the aim of feeding the needy and creating a safe place for children within the community. Ensley Britoe, who is the founder of the organisation, said that Mandela Day has always been special to him.

“At GBF, not only do we celebrate the father of our nation, Tata Madiba, but we also celebrate the foundation and the many children we feed on a weekly basis, afterall the foundation was started because of our children, right here from Eldorado Park,” said Britoe.

The birthday celebrations were sponsored by Ladder 2 Success, Cirebelle and Ourania Williams. Together the sponsors made sure the children were treated to hot dogs, cupcakes and party packs. Gary Bateman, who is the founder of Cirebelle – a cosmetic product manufacturer, said that he couldn’t have spent the day in a better way.

“We are here today to give back to a community that really needs help. There are so many foundations across Johannesburg, many of them have support but there are those who do not have support at all so that is why we chose The Gail Britoe Foundation, this organisation has very little support,” said Bateman.

Sehaam Bateman, founder of Ladder 2 Success said that the goal for today was for the children to have fun. “I’ve always had a great passion for young people, so my journey with the Gail Britoe Foundation is only starting, this is not just for Mandela day. I will be hosting leadership workshops in Eldorado Park. My goal is to help the foundation grow,” she said.

Ourania Williams, who has been with the foundation for six years now said that she is proud of what the foundation has achieved. “I will continue to assist for as long as I can. This foundation is very close to my heart and its intentions are pure,” said Williams.

The children treated the guests with a beautiful spiritual dance ensemble. The celebrations kicked off at 3pm. Sponsors donated food parcels. “We will also be sponsoring the foundation with food for the next three months,” said Bateman.

GBF continues to feed children weekly. “We are feeding about 90 children now. The number keeps growing,” Britoe added.
