Tshedimosho Primary School library renovated for Mandela Day

Tshedimosho Primary School was one of the schools chosen by the Department of Education in partnership with Standard Bank to renovate the school library.

The objective of the program is to cultivate a love of reading among learners in the Foundation Phase by providing an exciting library space with up to date and relevant books chosen to instil the culture of reading.

The Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) team went to the school and prepared the library implementation.

The project is in its third year of making a difference in the lives of young learners



The Standard Bank employee volunteers among with Rak team participated to complete the following activities: painting the unique tetra shelving, painting the pre-drawn wall murals and painting the wooden wall decals, making tyre and pallet wood seating for the children, creating of reading corners, placing of the new shelving units in the library and sorting books and placing the books on the shelves.

Project Manager of RAK Events Simone Burts said, “The learners and teachers must take care of the library and teachers must take learners to the library and encourage reading.”
