For Pimville senior citizens in ward 22, Mandela Day this year was celebrated in style, as The Beauty Hub Academy in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Social Development has dedicated a whole day to spoiling citizens aged 55 and above, getting their hair and nails done as well as massage free of charge.
Esther Lebelo, a community builder who spends most of her time with senior citizens did not mind turning her home into a beauty spa for the day, just for these elderlies.
Lebelo said that she is passionate about working with grannies and to her, it’s like a calling.
Although The Beauty Hub Academy and the Gauteng Department of Social Development, does this all the time and not just for Mandela Day, this can be considered one of the most special ways to celebrate the 67 minutes for Mandela Day.
