A case for attempted murder has been opened at the Diepkloof SAPS and two men are sought for shooting one man in the face.

The spokesperson for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto explained that the two suspects haven’t been caught to answer to justice for almost killing another young man in the early hours of the morning in Diepkloof, around 4 am.

It is alleged that the young man who was shot in the face was standing by the gate with his girlfriend at the girlfriend’s house when the two men approached.

One man from the two greeted the couple before the other man took out a firearm, however, upon seeing the fire-arm, the boyfriend attempted to flee and leave his girlfriend behind when the man holding the gun opened fire and shot him in the face.

No man has been brought in the station to answer to the crime, Matlou-Mteto said, “The two men are still being sought to answer to the ends of justice, but the victim is recovering in hospital and none of their belongings was taken during the shooting.”

The two men immediately walked away after the shooting, and the police are looking for them while gathering enough evidence for the case.

It is not yet clear, however, as to whether the shooting was a random incident or if the two men knew the couple that was still enjoying a sweet conversation before it turned sour.

The people who may know the two men with a firearm are advised to not approach them and to inform the police about their whereabouts.

Matlou-Mteto said, “We urge the people in our communities to report illegal firearms at 10 100 to prevent intimidation.”
