Tributes continue to pour in for the late actress Nomhle Nkonyeni
She died in the early morning of Wednesday at 4:30 am in the hospital after being admitted Friday.
Nomhle Nkonyane was well-known for her amazing and audience grabbing characters on TV roles such as Scandal on Etv and DSTV’s Igazi, but she, of course, played many roles in other TV programmes such as Tsha Tsha and many others.
She died in the early morning of Wednesday at 4:30 am in the hospital after being admitted Friday according to nephew. Reports state that Nomhle died at the age of 77 years. She was born in Port Elizabeth, New Brighton in April 1942.

- She started her career in acting in theatre at 19 years.

- She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016 at the South Africa Films and Television Awards (SAFTAs)
- She joined Scandal in 2017 were she played the role of Siseko Langa’s mom Lulama Langa.
- She was recognised in the same category at the 2018 Eastern Cape cultural awards.
- Nomhle received the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver earlier this year.
- She also recently starred in the movie Sew the Winter to My Skin in 2018.
- She was the first black African Woman director of literary drama in South Africa.
“The entertainment industry is tough, it’s not about glitz and glamour, dedication and determination is not enough- you must just be strong,” said the now late actress Nomhle Nkonyeni.
