Get it girl’ show offers girls and women a platform

The show seeks to create a safe space for women and girls to share in dialogue that is authentic, bold, empowering and thought-provoking.

Get it Girl (GIG), hosted by Savannah Job, Nazneem Vries and Natalie Jackson is a weekend radio show which broadcasts every Saturday from 12 pm to 3 pm on Eldos FM with the woman and the girl child being the main focus.

The show seeks to create a safe space for women and girls to share in dialogue that is authentic, bold, empowering and thought-provoking.

Due to a number of women and girls falling prey to adversaries in Eldorado Park, Get it Girl seeks to provide the listener with alternative ways of approaching life that puts them in a better position for resilience and success.

Vries, who is originally from the Free State, has been in the radio industry for over a year. “GIG is based on creating a platform for women to be exposed to alternative ways of thinking about life, relationships, career, money and health.

Many of our youngsters generally have not been equipped with or exposed to tools that help them navigate through different aspects of life as effectively as possible, so that is the aim of our show. The guests we have on our show are always people who are trying to change the narrative and perspective of society based on our topics,” said Vries.

“Radio was never on the cards for me. Soon after matric, I went on to study Psychology and graduated. But I guess I missed all the cues in life that my purpose actually involves my voice,” said Natalie Jackson.

“Females are an integral part of society. They have a purpose in the world that is often overlooked and undervalued. GIG believes the female is more powerful when she understands her value because it is only when she internalises her capabilities that she continues to be susceptible to success and growth. That is why I think our show is so important,” she added.

Savannah Job, who is a third year law student said that one of the goals for GIG is to interact with listeners.

“We also want to organise events where will be able to meet with our listeners and form a bond with them,” she said. Job is also an entrepreneur. “I have a small business called ‘Schmucculent’ where I design terrariums by combining plant pebbles, glass bowls and different sands together. It is a hobby that brings in some extra money to maintain my student life and brings colour to people’s homes and workplaces,” she added.

The pop music show creates a feel good vibe not only for listeners, but for the presenters themselves too. Listeners are never left out of the loop as the fun and crazy in-studio moments are captured on the show’s personal instagram page @getitgirlshow
