According to resident Marrisce Ruiters, EMS has not arrived yet, however she said that City Power officials arrived and just opened the substation to look inside and then left.
Electricity has been restored in other parts of Riverlea but Riverlea extension is still without electricity.
Residents have concerns of crime rising tonight and parents are asking how will their children be attending school as the mini substation is in the school yard.

Eye witness reports came in now that the substation in Riverlea Extension is on fire and electricity in the area is currently off.
Ward Councillor Basil Douglas said that he contacted ems and the emergency services are aware and will dispatch their resources.
“Fire engine on it’s way,” said Douglas.
Residents are unhappy because emergency services have not arrived yet and it’s getting dark. They are saying that they have been having electricity outages since Sunday and City Power has been in the area working on the mini substations.
City Power officials were busy with the box this morning and now the mini substation exploded.
According to residents City power officials told them that it is an overload on the grid that has been causing the outages in the area.
Residents are still waiting for the EMS to arrive.
The whole of Riverlea has no electricity.
