UPDATE: ward 30 Councillor Sechaba Khumalo support the protest in Orlando

Main road and two Reavaya stations in Orlando East closed due to a power outage protest.

The ward 30 councillor Sechaba Khumalo said that he has taken the position to support the cause.

“If Eskom does not return in an hour we need to show the them by closing down our area, because we have spoken to everyone.

” After an hour it is up to us.”



The ANC in ward30 is also supporting the protest in Orlando East.

Residents of Orlando East Boom Town barricaded roads in Orlando in protest due to a power outage they experienced in the area for two weeks.

The coommunity allege that the cause of the power outage is because of the transformer that exploded in the area which resulted in the area not having electricity.

The protest started late last night and its in full swing currently.

The Orlando police are at the scene maintaining the situation but the community insist that they will continue to block the road till the Ward 30 councillor address their grievances.

The main road in Orlando East ‘ Mooki street’ and the two Reavaya bus stations ‘Boom Town station’ and ‘ Orlando police station’ are temporarily closed.

No comment yet from the councillor and Eskom.
