Protea Glen family still stranded after fire destroyed their home

A Protea Glen family who've lost their house are appealing to the community to assist them with the basic necessities.

The Khumalo family who lost all their belongings in a fire at their home in Protea Glen extension three on Friday June 21 are still without a roof over their heads and are sleeping at friends’ homes.

The cause of the fire is still unknown as the fire inspectors have yet to conduct an investigation. The family are distraught as their whole house has burnt down.

The house was being occupied by Mongezi Khumalo at the time of the fire. He is currently seeking counselling as the loss of the house has been difficult on him.

“We’ve lost all of our documents and basically everything we have. My son is living with a neighbour now and I’m living with a friend with my other son who is 13 years old,” said Dipuo Khumalo, who is the owner of the house and mother to Mongezi Khumalo.

The family are asking the community for help in rebuilding their home. Any household items such as blankets, curtains etc will go a long way in assisting them says Dipuo.
Anyone willing to help can contact Dipuo Khumalo on 084 431 8470 or Nomsa Shuping on 083 255 4537.
