“As parents, we felt nervous and a little stressed as this is their first overseas trip as well as travelling without their parents. We googled and did research on the Gothia Cup registration.

“We even did research on South Africa School of Soccer. We went as far as sending emails to the organisers of the Gothia cup to make sure this is legit.

“We are extremely excited that our boys are given the opportunity to represent their community Eldorado Park, their schools, local soccer teams and especially our country South Africa in this youth tournament. This tournament could open doors for them and we want them to seize the moment and opportunity,” she added.

Each of the boys is in need of R12 000, which will be used for plane tickets. “The other expenses have already been paid for,” said Brown. The youngsters will be leaving on July 12 and will be in Sweden until July 21.

The four families are appealing to the community and local businesses to assist in ensuring the boys make it to Sweden. Anyone who would like to make a donation can contact Fagmida Brown on 084 207 4373.
